The Durans, owners of Haley’s Corner Bakery, have known Haley’s family for many years. When Haley was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2003, at the age of two, she was suffering from health issues related to the disease. Eliminating gluten from her diet has helped her make a splendid recovery and she is a vibrant, healthy little girl today. During the past few years Haley has been eating gluten free, Jessica and Janet Duran have been experimenting with converting to gluten free many recipes Haley would enjoy and still remain within her dietary restrictions. These recipes have been so successful that Haley’s mother encouraged them to offer the products to the gluten free community in order for others to have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of treats common to all children and adults, too. Inspired by the challenge of providing tasty treats for many, Janet and Jessica pursued opening a bakery where fresh baked breads, cookies, cakes, pies, cheesecakes, and pizza would be available to a growing number of folks who must follow a gluten free diet.
